Young Adult Summer Workshop Appears on NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune
The New Orleans School of Glassworks & Printmaking Studio is pleased to announce that students of our Young Adult Summer Workshop appeared today in a Featured Photo Gallery on NOLA.com of the Times-Picayune.
Chris Granger, staff photographer for the Times-Picayune newspaper and NOLA.com in New Orleans, visited our studios last week, capturing young adults—ages 10–17—while they enjoyed "hands-on" in historical forms of artisanship, rotating between open-working studios and facilities comprising over 25,000 square feet.
Every summer, the New Orleans School of Glassworks & Printmaking Studio hosts the Young Adult Summer Workshop, whereby young artists, ages nine (9) to seventeen (17), can learn an array of innovative techniques and skills. Students benefit from our "hands-on" approach insofar as they design and execute all of their own projects, albeit under the guidance of faculty drawn from a stable of master-artisans and craftsmen—renowned specialists commanding presence and influence in their respective fields.
Our Young Adult Summer Workshop is the only program of its kind in the entire South. Activities comprehended by our Summer Workshop include:
- Venetian Glassblowing & Sculpture
- Scientific Glass Torchworking & Beadmaking
- Metal Sculpture
- Ceramics & Pottery
- Etching & Intaglio Printmaking
- Relief Printing
- Letterpress, Book Arts & Pop-Up Book Engineering
- Fundamentals of Screenprinting
- Glass Mosaics
- Stained Glass
- Copper Enameling (Jewelry)
