Blown Sugar: Isomalt Mardi Gras Crown 4-Hour Course

New Orleans Glassworks & Printmaking Studio welcomes master sugar sculptor Sidney Galpern to Louisiana sugar cane country. This is an ideal occasion to sweeten the winter season with Valentine’s Day coming, learning blown sugar and cast sugar sculpture.

We will have 4-hour courses available on Tuesday, January 24th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and Wednesday, January 25th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the glassblowing studio.

For information on sugar blowing instruction or to receive a registration form, please contact us on our website HERE.

The class will include the following:

Isomalt Mardi Gras Crown

The class incorporates cast, pulled, and blown isomalt in various shapes and textures to create a Mardi Gras crown adorned with a fleur-de-lis and more. All supplies provided.

Techniques we will be teaching:

Casting Isomalt
Pulled Isomalt
Blown Isomalt
Layering Isomalt
Overcoming Humidity

As a beginner, you will not always be able to make the objects you see in the blown sugar photographs looking exactly as you see there the first time. As in everything you design, practice makes perfect.

We look forward to seeing you in our studio!
